The Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA-Hawaii) commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Parade of Homes with an awards banquet in 2006. The event honored visionary industry leaders who changed the topography of the islands and have made a significant contribution to Hawaii communities. Contractor Harold Hicks was their winner. His original concept was to offer homes at a reasonable price, designed and built for the homeowner's lot. The homes that Harold Hicks built beginning in the 1950's became the standard for the industry and an inspiration for contractors that followed. Harold Hicks passed away at an early age in 1967. Guy Larson-Hicks, grandson of Harold Hicks and third generation builder for Hawaii, continues that legacy.
For the past 20 years, Guy has been in the construction business, and has experienced every aspect of it, including clearing job sites; making deliveries; and being a carpenter apprentice, foreman, superintendent, construction scheduling, administrator, and estimator. In 2007, Guy incorporated Larson-Hicks Construction, LLC.
